Initial groundbreaking for a new assembly hall
GapCon GmbH to begin operations at Stahlwerk Becker commercial park
In June of this year, GapCon GmbH will launch operations at a new assembly hall in the Stahlwerk Becker commercial park. The young company is initially planning a heavy crane hall with employee break area on a total area of 4,000 square meters. An administrative building is to follow.
The official start of new construction was marked by a groundbreaking ceremony on January 21, 2009 along Walzwerkstrasse, which was attended by Mayor Josef Heyes.
An investment of 1.6 million euros is behind construction of the assembly hall. The objective of the new building in Willich is to assure consistent development for the company, which was launched in 2006 with only a handful of employees. According to the CEO, the business model has been very well received by customers. Company headquarters remain in Meerbusch-Büderich, while the workshop is located in Siegen. The new assembly hall will be outfitted with all equipment that this special supplier of calendars and rolls for paper finishing requires to process 5 to 60-ton rolls. This includes a new 62-ton crane and special testing station.
