"Fascinating Worlds of Commerce" opening

"Fascinating Worlds of Commerce" – an exhibition from the METRO Group – opened at the Ehrenhof in Düsseldorf on May 12, 2004.

The company will illustrate the multifaceted aspects of this exciting industry for four weeks. Visitors are immersed in the past and present of commercial trade and can experience visions of the future of shopping.

"'Fascinating Worlds of Commerce' provides a glimpse behind the curtain of an industry that is one of the most important global economic sectors and is the single largest employer," explains Dr. Hans-Joachim Körber, chairman of the METRO Group, on the occasion of the exhibition opening. "The focus is on topics that drive and characterize the METRO Group: internationality, quality, advertising, logistics, and shopping worlds."

Each thematic world is presented in its own experiential room. The exhibition illustrates the context and background behind commerce. Exhibits from the METRO Group archives, extraordinary interactive installations, historical and current video and images reflect the attitudes toward life in past decades and demonstrate how commerce functions today.

The METRO Group is showing the exhibition to celebrate the anniversary this year of three of its retail brands: "Fascinating Worlds of Commerce" is on display seven days a week from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. until June 11, 2004. Admission is free.
